Got questions?
We’ve got answers!
Here are some of our FAQs:
01 - Do you take insurance?
No, I am not accepting insurance at this time. Clients seeking reimbursement for therapy can be provided with a superbill (verification of services received) to submit to their insurance providers.
You will receive a consultation phone call within 48 hours of submitting a contact request. This phone call is complimentary and will be of no cost to you. During this call, a clinician will briefly speak with you about what concerns you would like to address in therapy and what you hope to achieve through the therapy process. At this time, fee, availability, and schedule will also be discussed. Please feel free to ask the clinician any questions you have regarding the counseling process. We are here for you.
02 - What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 24-hour notice for cancellation prior to the scheduled session time. Cancellations can be made either by phone or by email. A late cancellation (less than 24-hour notice) or no-show fee will be charged amounting to the full rate of the session.
03 - How do I choose a therapist?
Finding the right therapist is similar to the dating process: you have an idea of what you want or need and are on the search for someone compatible. Before getting started on your search for a therapist, summarize what you're hoping to work on and what you're looking for. This could be as broad as, "life stuff" or as specific as, "making a decision about transitioning to a new job." This will help you identify therapists that may align with your specific needs. Then, consider your personal preferences (gender, age, religion, location, etc.). As you begin to sift through therapy pages or directories, make note of whose short introductions you "clicked with." This is a snapshot of the therapist and can help you narrow your search. It may also help to become familiar with the therapist’s credentials (am I looking for a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Medical Doctor?; be sure to select a mental health professional that is licensed). Prior to your initial appointment, plan to ask your therapist questions to ensure they are a good match for you. This can include questions about how they work with their clients, their experience working with issues similar to yours, and the overall experience of therapy. Ultimately, select the therapist you feel connected to, comfortable with, and that you believe can help you attain your goals.
04 — What is your fee and how do I pay?
Each session is 50-minutes long and $140 per session. In some cases, longer sessions may be requested or recommended depending on your needs. 90-minute sessions are $200 per session and can be coordinated with your clinician. Payment can be collected via credit card at the end of each session, via card on file at the end of the session, or an invoice can be sent to your email address on file. Invoices must be paid in full prior to the next scheduled session time.
05 — What is parking like?
At this time, I am seeing clients virtually. This means you do not need to leave the comfort of your home and there are no parking issues! If this changes in the future, I’ll be sure to let you know.
06 — How long are sessions and how often do I meet with you?
Each session is 50-minutes long. In some cases, longer sessions (90-minutes) may be requested or recommended depending on your needs. The frequency of visits depends on your needs and availability. I recommend meeting once weekly to start. This can be modified to more than one visit a week or every other week depending on your particular case.
07 — What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is about me getting to know you, and you getting to know me. We will review the practice consent forms together, discuss your goals for counseling, and answer any questions you may have. I often tell my clients, “share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with” and we’ll start there!
08 — Do I have to take medication? or Do you provide medication?
No, I do not provide medication. While I am not an advocate for or against medication, I am happy to discuss the use of medication in conjunction with our work together. This includes possible side effects and how to advocate for yourself with your prescribing doctor. Medication is not a requirement to receive therapy/counseling services.
09 — Who has access to my information?
In short, no one. Your information (demographic info, documents, notes, payment, etc.) is only accessible to you and your clinician. However, there are some cases in which your information may be shared. This includes if you request for your information to be released, if your clinician is court-ordered to release information regarding your care, and/or if there is concern regarding your safety or the safety of another person. In the case that your clinician becomes incapacitated, a licensed professional has been assigned to take over your case to mitigate disruption to your progress and growth.
10 — What is your style or approach to therapy?
I like to call myself an experiential therapist (formally, a Gestalt Therapist with a Person-Centered foundation). My work with clients is focused on the present moment and increasing awareness about our whole experience as a person (thoughts, feelings, behaviors, sensations, dreams, etc). I welcome and accept my clients without judgment, and create a space for them to process, learn, heal, and grow. This may occur through trying new ways of thinking and behaving in session, which can then be translated to other parts of the client's life outside of the therapy office.
11 — How do I set up an appointment?
Setting up an appointment is easy. It begins with an initial consultation call between you and your clinician. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss your needs, ask each other questions, and set up your first visit. All subsequent appointments will be scheduled with your clinician at the end of each session. To set up a consultation call, click the button below.
